Online Learning - Course Drop Policy
A full time student must complete six credits per year in order to graduate with the minimum number of 24 credits.
Drop Policy and procedure for student request
Students must have written permission from parents/guardians to drop a course.
  1. Student requests to drop a course through the Guidance Center
  2. The Guidance Center will contact student, parent and teacher to discuss the situation.
  3. If approved by the Academic Dean, parents must sign a release.
Drop Policy and procedure for school initiated action
Bradenton Preparatory Academy reserves the right to remove students from courses based on non-performance or violation of other school policies.

Only through consistent communication can students be successful in an online course. Instructors monitor and determine the workload with the student. The teacher and student must maintain regular communication.
  1. Teachers will communicate with administration, parents, and student when inactivity is evident.
  2. If the student does not respond to the email by submitting assignments within seven days, the instructor will call the student and parents.
  3. If no work has been submitted within fourteen days of the initial email, the Guidance Center will assume that the student does not intend to remain in the course and will be administratively dropped from the course.
  4. The Guidance Center will send a copy of the record indicating that the student has been contacted for lack of participation. A copy of the drop information will be sent as well.
  5. During the first ten days of being activated in a course a student may drop the course without penalty. Requests to drop the class after this period will result in a failing grade. A minimum number of assignments must be completed on a weekly basis. The number will be determined by the student and teacher and submitted as a contract for each class.

Failure to submit the minimum number of assignments on a weekly basis may result in removal from the course and can result in a failing grade assigned to a student's permanent transcript. If a student drops the course after completing fifty percent of the class requirements and fails to take the final exam, The Bradenton Preparatory Academy Virtual High School will issue an "F" as the final grade.
